1958, ein kleines Dorf in der Toskana. Behütet und geliebt wächst Amos Bardi (Toby Sebastian) auf dem Hof seiner Eltern auf. Eines Tages entdecken Amos’ Eltern, dass ihr Sohn an einer seltenen Augenkrankheit leidet, die seine Sehfähigkeit zunehmend einschränkt. Nach zahlreichen erfolglosen Operationen steht es fest: Amos ist nahezu blind und muss auf ein Internat für sehbehinderte Kinder.
